Listen In When the City Speaks Out

Battery-operated radios help residents stay informed during an emergency because radio stations can broadcast even when the power is out. For children of the Internet era, however, zeroing in on the right station may seem like a maddening game of radio roulette.
New York City has an agreement with four local radio stations to share critical information in the event of a large-scale emergency. All other stations monitor and rebroadcast emergency messages from these stations.
For updates from the City during an emergency, tune in to:
  • WFAN- 660 AM
  • WABC- 770 AM
  • WCBS- 880 AM
  • WINS- 1010 AM
