OEM TIP OF THE WEEK: KNOW WHAT'S GOOD IN YOUR 'HOOD Every household should designate two emergency meeting spots within the neighborhood: one right outside the home and one a bit farther away, within walking distance of the house. This week, OEM encourages New Yorkers to use NYC City Maps to find suitable meeting points like libraries, recreation centers, parks, and museums. Visit NYC.gov/citymaps. Set your search type to "Address" and enter your address. When the results display, click "Show additional information..." Foil Floods In Your Neighborhoods

This past weekend a Nor'easter dropped almost four inches of rain on the city. The National Weather Service issued flood advisories for all counties and warned New Yorkers that streets, underpasses, drainage areas, and other low lying spots would flood first. If you live in a flood-prone area, clearing off catch basins before a storm can help increase drainage and reduce flooding.
