Out of Power, But Not Out of Options

Power outages most often occur during the summer months when residents run air conditioners and power usage is at its peak. If your electrical power is cut off, food in your refrigerator and freezer will spoil. Plan ahead by keeping nonperishable food items in your emergency supply kit that require little to no cooking, store freezer packs to help keep food cold during a power outage, and keep food in the driest and coolest spot in your home.
