A NEW DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME: SUNDAY, MARCH 11

To support an effort to save energy, United States Congress has passed a law that changes Daylight Saving Time. As a result, Americans will turn their clocks forward on Sunday, March 11. Though we'll lose an hour of sleep, we will be awake for more daylight hours, and make better use of natural light.

Now is a good time to check the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) detectors to make sure they work properly. The New York Fire Department and OEM recommend you do this at least twice a year, at Daylight Saving Times. OEM also encourages New Yorkers to update disaster plans, and restock Emergency Supply Kits and Go Bags at this time. Be a Ready New Yorker.
